I had this exact battle. What worked was my husband speaking to his own mother. Coming from him it landed differently.
Show them the current guidance in writing. Sometimes 'the doctor said' carries more weight than 'I said'.
Be kind but firm and consistent. 'I know you love her, and this is how we are doing it.' Repeat as many times as needed.
