Would you give your mother-in-law a key to your house?

Anonymous Mum1 day ago

My MIL is asking for a spare key so she can 'help' when we are at work. My husband thinks I am overreacting for hesitating. Am I wrong?

No. A key means unannounced visits, and once you give it you cannot easily take it back. Boundaries are not disrespect.

Compromise: give it to your husband's care, not hers. If she needs to come, he coordinates it. Keeps the peace.

We gave mine a key and regretted it within two weeks. She rearranged my kitchen. Never again.

It really depends on the MIL. Mine is a saviour and I would trust her with my life. But if you are hesitating, that is your answer.
