Common questions
How much sleep does my child need?
It varies by age: newborns need around 14 to 17 hours across the day, toddlers 11 to 14, primary-age children 9 to 12, and teens 8 to 10. Enter an age above for the typical range.
What time should my child go to bed?
Work back from when they need to wake up. If a 4-year-old needs to be up at 7am and does best with around 11 hours overnight, a bedtime near 8pm makes sense. The tool suggests this for you.
What are wake windows?
For babies, a wake window is the amount of awake time they can comfortably manage between sleeps before getting overtired. These lengthen as babies grow, and the tool shows the typical range for their age.
