Contraction Timer

A simple contraction timer for the big day. Tap start when a contraction begins and stop when it eases, and we’ll track how long each one lasts and how far apart they are.

Ready when you are

--:--

Tap Start contraction when one begins and Stop when it eases. We’ll track the length and how far apart they are.

This timer is a helper, not medical advice. Always follow the guidance from your own midwife or maternity unit, and call them if you’re worried at any point.

Common questions

How do I time contractions?

Time from the start of one contraction to the start of the next to get the frequency, and from the start to the end of a single contraction for its length. This timer does both for you: just tap start and stop.

What is the 5-1-1 rule?

A common guide is 5-1-1: contractions coming about every 5 minutes, each lasting around 1 minute, for at least 1 hour. Many hospitals suggest calling when you reach that pattern, but always follow the advice your own midwife or maternity unit has given you.

When should I go to hospital?

That depends on your pregnancy and how far you live from your unit. Trust your instincts and call your midwife or maternity triage if you're unsure, if your waters break, if there's bleeding, or if baby's movements change.
