Common questions
When should I pack my hospital bag?
Most mums have their bag ready by around 36 weeks, as babies can arrive from 37 weeks. Packing it a little early takes one job off your mind for the final weeks.
What should I pack in my hospital bag?
A good bag covers documents (your maternity notes and birth plan), things for you (comfy clothes, maternity pads, toiletries), things for baby (vests, sleepsuits, nappies, a blanket), comfort items for labour, essentials for your birth partner, and what you need for going home. Build your tailored list above.
Do I need one bag or two?
Many mums pack a smaller labour bag for the birth itself and a larger bag for the ward and after. You can print this list and split the items however works for you.
Is this list right for a caesarean?
Choose “Caesarean” above and we'll add a few extras many mums find useful, like looser high-waisted clothing and items for a slightly longer stay. Always follow your own hospital's guidance.
